| Purpose: The purpose of this study was investigate and comparison of injury in non professional boys participating in taekwondo, karate and judo. Methodology: In this study evaluate injury rate in lost year. Sample of this study comprise 45, 34, 30 males participating in taekwondo, judo and karate respectively (Means±SD; Age 15.9±1.6 year, 168.9± 6.3 cm weight 58.5± 7.1 kg) of City Ilam. Instrument of research was questionnaire that designed and used by Destombe and co-workers (2006). For analyses of information, descriptive and Chi-Square tests ware used. Results: Results of this study showed that injury incidence in taekwondo (56.3% / 100 athletes exposures) was significantly higher that karate (19.5% / 100 A-E) and judo (24.1% / 100 A-E) (χ2= 448.46, p= 0.000). Results showed that the main injury was sprain (31.2 %), strain (29.6 %) and contusion (32.3 %) in karate, judo and taekwondo respectively. Injury in lower extremity was higher than other parts of body and in taekwondo (68.4%) was higher than judo (34.9%) and karate (41.2%) (χ2= 355.12, p= 0.000). The main mechanism of injury was technical mistake in karate (30.3 %), falling in judo (23.7 %) and opponent stroke in taekwando (29.9 %). Minor injury in karate (70.6 %), judo (59.2 %) and taekwando (60.5 %) was significantly higher than moderate and severe injuries (χ2= 347.9, p= 0.000). Injury incidence was significantly greater during in training (80.6 %) than in competition (19.4 %) (χ2= 274.1, p= 0.000). Injury incidence in preferred body side in taekwando (51.4 %) (χ2= 7.89, p= 0.005) and karate (45.9 %) (χ2= 9.98, p= 0.002) was significantly higher than in non-preferred body side. The was no significant difference in judo injury incidence in between preferred (42.8 %) and non-preferred (32.9 %) body side (χ2= 1.95, p= 0.162). Discussion: Injury prevalence in taekwando was higher than karate and judo. Controlled styles in karate perform in terms of middle-contact rules and this factor causes lower injury in this styles but taekwando is a full-contact sport. Therefore we recommend to participation controlled styles in karate. | ||
