| Abstract | ||
| Pseudo-inscription is a type of inscription that has no content meaning. This art can be seen on all cultural materials in Islamic art, especially in the first and middle centuries. Also, its field of distribution covers a wide range and even in the cultural field of Byzantium and Eastern Europe is considered a significant phenomenon. During the Samanid period, a considerable number of pseudo-inscriptions have been found in Nishapur pottery, which shows that this phenomenon was formed during the Samanid period in the Greater Khorasan area, which was of special importance in the Islamic period. Numerous examples have been found in the cultural field of Byzantium between the 11th and 15th centuries AD. Why this phenomenon is formed and how it is distributed is an important issue that has not been addressed. In the present study, an attempt has been made to deal with this phenomenon with the view of intercultural studies and in the approach of cultural interactions. The results show that there is a kind of homogeneity in the execution of pseudo-inscriptions, and perhaps in commercial relations between different regions, this phenomenon has been formed and has become a common element. | ||
