| Abstract At some points of our lives there are some moments that we find ourselves encountered with questions like: What am I doing in my life? What is my life? And even deeper: What is reality? Is there anything beyond this ordinary physical life? These questions and alike have been asked by human during all his centuries of existence. Being in the search of the answer, sometimes he found out himself being mystic, philosopher, religious, scientist, artist or alike. Putting finding the answer or not aside, it can be concluded from this saying that these questions were of the most essential drives for human being to acquire any kind of knowledge. Some of these deep questions are asked by the American rock band called Thirty Seconds to Mars, in a controversial music video or short film of them called The Hurricane, directed by the Oscar winner Jared Leto under the pseudonym of Bartholomew Cubbins, released in 2009. This essay analyzed this video through mystic notions of the well-known Mewlawna Jalal-adin Rumi and other transcendental ideas of any other figures whom was recognized useful in this case. Furthermore, specifically speaking, this essay approaches to a poem by Rumi called ‘where are we?’, which some specific scenes of the mentioned video is exactly a portrayal of some lines of that. Generally, that is, earthly love and pleasure is a trace and portrait of that transcendental spiritual love which accepts no fear and bias toward itself. | ||
