| Teaching statistics and probability presents unique challenges due to the abstract nature of probability concepts, computational demands, and cognitive and affective barriers. This paper synthesizes research on mathematical learning difficulties, mathematics anxiety, school belonging, classroom safety, metacognition, constructivism, educational technology, pedagogical humour, and professional ethics. Evidence-based strategies including multisensory teaching, conversation-based learning, constructivist approaches, problem-solving heuristics, metacognitive skill development, humour, and anxiety-reduction interventions are examined. Using real datasets, the paper analyzes sociodemographic differences, factor analysis, multivariate analysis of variance, cluster analysis, fuzzy set theory, Generalized Linear Mixed Model, drift diffusion modeling, decision theory, and discrete choice analysis. Results show that females and public institution students report higher math anxiety. Three profiles emerged: high-risk (25%), low-risk (27%), and moderate (48%). Math anxiety correlates strongly with statistics anxiety, and task difficulty sensitivity drives avoidance behavior. Fuzzy logic supports a continuum rather than binary classification. This paper provides practical recommendations for developing statistics curricula addressing cognitive, affective, social, and pedagogical factors. | ||
