چکیده | ||

چکیده [English] | ||
Context and Purpose: The present study aims to identify common components between the theory of New Urbanism—particularly the principle of walkability—and the development of urban tourism. Its main focus is on empowering the central core of cities to better meet the needs of tourists. Historically, cities emerged as structured systems to organize social functions. Over time, with the expansion of public spaces and advancements in transportation, urban structures evolved. These developments created attractions that laid the groundwork for the tourism industry. However, the growing influx of tourists brought challenges in meeting their needs. Many cities, due to neglecting tourism-related components, faced setbacks. Thus, understanding the link between urban planning theories and tourism is essential for the simultaneous development of both fields. Design/methodology/approach: The research, with a mixed approach and with practical goals, uses the descriptive-analytical method to reach the answer to the research question. Findings: The findings of the research show that there is a strong and meaningful relationship between the principles of New Urbanism and the development of tourism. Conclusion: According to the commonalities of the New-urbanism and tourism theories, if New-urbanism's principles are emphasized and paid attention to in the central core of the cities, tourism can be strengthened. Originality/value: Dealing with an interdisciplinary issue that can improve the existing situation and reduce costs by using the common principles between different theories in the context of a city is a valuable issue that can reduce urban management costs. Relying on documented and unchangeable principles and using logical methods to reach the answer are the characteristics of this research. However, these findings will have different results in abnormal conditions.
